WHO WE ARE.
Kesia Barone is the founder of Orsa Design, a studio rooted in the belief that intentional living begins with intentional spaces - and a devotion to making those spaces equally efficient and aesthetic. Orsa Design was launched in 2021, during a global moment of reflection, when home became more essential than ever.
Kesia’s path to design has been shaped by a unique blend of global perspective and hands-on experience. Raised in a family where work and play were often indistinguishable, and travel and exploration deemed necessary, she set out to carry those values forward at every turn in her professional life. She was immersed in construction and conversations about the craft throughout her childhood, shaping her skills and creating a deep respect for the collaborative process behind creating meaningful spaces. She spent a majority of her undergraduate studies at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland, expanding her approach to architecture, while also deepening her appreciation for the vernacular design of her Pacific Northwest upbringing.
Based out of a 200 SF tiny house on wheels, Kesia strives to live as intentionally as possible, without sacrificing comfort and quality, and Orsa Design seeks to incorporate those ideas into every project.
The name Orsa is a derived from the Italian word for ‘bear’, reimagined in its feminine form as a tribute to the birthplace of Kesia’s father. It also references the Kermode, or spirit bear - the provincial mammal of British Columbia, where Kesia has roots and spent part of her upbringing. Bears and their symbolism have long held personal meaning for her, representing strength, introspection, and connection to place - qualities she strives to reflect in her work
